About SDN
An engineering practice that speaks search fluently.
SDN — Strategy Digital Node — is an IT engineering consultancy specialising in technical SEO. We sit between your developers and your marketing team, and translate in both directions.
We analyse complex web data — server logs, crawls, rendering output and field performance — and turn it into structured, prioritised specifications that engineers can ship and marketers can measure. No vague recommendations, no black-box reports.

Why we exist
Two teams, one website — and a gap between them.
“Most developers don’t care about SEO, and most SEOs don’t understand code.”
— the gap SDN was built to close
It’s rarely anyone’s fault. Developers are measured on features, stability and delivery speed; SEO arrives as a spreadsheet of warnings with no context about how the site is actually built. SEOs, in turn, are handed a platform they can’t inspect and a backlog they can’t influence. Tickets bounce, priorities drift, and organic performance quietly erodes with every release.
We exist to close that gap. We read the codebase, the infrastructure and the data, then write recommendations in the language of the team that has to act on them — acceptance criteria for engineers, impact and risk for marketing and leadership. One shared plan, owned by both sides.
How we think
Four principles behind every engagement.
Evidence over opinion
Every recommendation is grounded in data you can inspect: logs, crawls, rendering diffs and field metrics. If we can’t show why a change matters, we don’t ask you to make it.
Specification, not suggestion
No “consider improving” advice. Each fix is written as a ticket with scope, acceptance criteria and a way to verify it in production.
Inside the workflow
We work in your tools — Jira, Linear, GitHub, Slack — joining sprint planning and reviewing pull requests, so SEO is part of delivery, not an afterthought.
Measured in releases
Progress is tracked release by release, not in monthly vanity reports. Every change ships with a baseline, so its effect on crawl, index and traffic is visible.

Tools & stack
The stack we work in.
Tools are interchangeable; the method isn’t. These are the ones we reach for most — and we’re comfortable adapting to whatever your team already runs.
Where off-the-shelf tools stop, we write our own: Python scripts for log parsing, rendering diffs and redirect validation, and BigQuery pipelines that join crawl, log and Search Console data at URL level.

SDN
Strategy Digital Node
The founder
Built from the server logs up.
SDN was founded by an IT engineering consultant who moved into technical SEO from the server logs up.
That path shapes how we work. Before we look at rankings, we look at how a site is built, served and rendered — the infrastructure, the framework, the deployment pipeline. Search problems almost always start there, and so do the fixes.
It also means we speak both languages. We can sit in sprint planning and argue for a change in terms of render cost and cache behaviour, then explain the same change to a marketing lead in terms of indexation and revenue. Read more about our methodology.
Working with us
How engagements run.
Remote-first
We work remotely with teams across the UK and Europe, with on-site workshops arranged when a project needs them.
UK & EU timezones
Our hours overlap with yours, so stand-ups, sprint reviews and launch-day calls happen in real time.
NDAs as standard
We sign NDAs before we see code or data, use read-only access where possible and follow your security policies.
Fixed-scope quotes
Every engagement is scoped and priced upfront after a short call. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices.
